Connect Shopify to SyncMetrics

5-minute setup, fully read-only, can be revoked anytime.

What this lets us do: pull your orders, revenue, customers, and products into Claude AI and Looker Studio. Show traffic-source attribution (Meta vs TikTok vs Direct revenue). Build cross-platform ROAS reports.

What we can't do: change anything in your store — not orders, not products, not prices. Access is fully read-only and audit-logged by Shopify.

1 Open your Shopify admin

Go to https://your-store.myshopify.com/admin

2 Enable Custom App development

  1. Click Settings (gear, bottom-left)
  2. Click Apps and sales channels
  3. Click Develop apps
  4. If you see "Allow custom app development" → click it → confirm
If Develop apps is missing, your account isn't the store owner. Ask the owner to follow this guide or invite SyncMetrics as a collaborator.

3 Create the SyncMetrics app

  1. Click Create an app
  2. Name: SyncMetrics
  3. Click Create app

4 Pick the read scopes

On the new app's page click Configuration → under Admin API integration click Configure. Check only these (all start with read_):

✓ read_reports
✓ read_marketing_events
✓ read_fulfillments
✓ read_returns
✓ read_discounts
✓ read_price_rules

Do not check any write_* boxes. Scroll down and click Save.

5 Install the app

  1. At the top of the app page, click Install app
  2. Confirm with Install

6 Reveal the access token

  1. You'll land on the API credentials tab
  2. Find Admin API access token
  3. Click "Reveal token once"
  4. ⚠️ Copy the token immediately — Shopify only shows it once
  5. It starts with shpat_…
If you accidentally close the screen before copying: click Uninstall → re-Install → reveal again.

7 Connect in SyncMetrics

  1. Open syncmetrics.io/dashboard
  2. On the Connections tab, find the Shopify card
  3. Click + Connect Shopify
  4. Paste your shop domain (e.g. your-store.myshopify.com) and the shpat_… token
  5. Click Connect store

You should see ✅ Connected to {your store name}.

Go to dashboard →

8 Try it out

In Claude (with SyncMetrics MCP), ask:

Show me my Shopify revenue for the last 30 days

In Looker Studio:

Create → Data source → search "SyncMetrics - Shopify"
